Mental Wellbeing

Connecting with nature is a powerful way to alleviate stress and anxiety. Community Gardening offers a relaxing experience, promoting calmness and fosters a positive mental state. We offer companionship to our beneficiaries over a shared cup of tea!

Social Interaction

Community gardening cultivates local neighbourhood connections, offering a wonderful opportunity to meet new likeminded friends. As you nurture plants and watch them grow, you’ll gain a sense of achievement and purpose that enriches your community experience.

Gardening Volunteer

Do you like being outdoors, immersed in nature and spending your time caring for plants (and people?) Gardening For Good offers light gardening support and maintenance 100% free of charge to individuals living with cancer. (We also service and maintain the gardens of individuals not living with cancer and this fee goes directly to charity, too). You don't need to have the gardening skills of Monty Don or Alan Titmarsh, or the horticultural knowledge of Carol Ann Klein... you need to be passionate about community and supporting individuals living with cancer. Offer your time and energy, to help enrich and improve the lives of people within your community. If you can offer 2-4 hours of your time, per month then please get in touch!

Training & Safeguarding

We take safeguarding seriously: Gardening For Good understands that individuals living with cancer, can be vulnerable. All volunteers (both gardening and operations volunteers) are Enhanced DBS checked, and guided through our comprehensive induction training, before their volunteering journey begins. As an organisation, we are fully insured and carry out location Risk Assessments in line with our organisational policies.
Not everyone has the same level of gardening experience, so gardening volunteers will be initially paired with someone (a 'Gardening Buddy') that will share their knowledge and support, heightening your own personal experience, and raising your professional skillset.
